Thailand trip. Day 1

Date October 11, 2007

Due to a family crisis of late, I wasn’t able to do a quick update. The only thing that we (family) can do now is to wait for my brother in law’s reaction from the chemo treatment, which we’re hoping would help.

But life has to go on, for the rest of us. No matter how sad it will be if.

I thought of sharing for the next coming entries our Thailand trip. Which was about f o o d for the most part. You’ll see.

This is a slow start since this is day one. We arrived in Bangkok just before noon, met by a chauffeur and were brought to Holiday Inn, Silom where we stayed for 3 nights. While waiting to be lead into our room, I clicked my shutter a few times to ‘document’ the beginning of our short vacation we so looked forward to , the past 7 years!

hotel lobby, didn’t appear busy but it was

after a quick shower and plugging in my laptop to the hotel’s wireless internet service (Bath 1,800 or Euro 48 for 3 days)
we hurriedly took a tuktuk and went to MBK looking for a quick bite .
Thailand’s King PHUMIPHON Adunyadet, a well loved and respected king

overwhelmed by the many eateries in that giant mall, we settled for the first grill restaurant that we saw and ordered a plate of seafood and meat mix, with some vegies and glass noodles

I was not able to photographed the dip spicy-sweet sauce for this meal…anyway, this was the ‘grill’ which periphery was constantly filled with water and in the middle were cuts of pork fat that served as grease

side dishes were fried springrolls (oh so yummy!) and breaded shrimps which I forgot to photographed to ( too excited to eat)

I washed my bites down with watermelon shake while my husband ordered Thai Singha beer. After eating, we just walked around and found some stall such as this …I didn’t try any since I was already stuffed.

my apologies for not being able to identify all the above yummies…but they all looked so good when I saw them.

See you on day 2.

I am an Asian married to a dutch gentleman, residing in Holland. There is no way that I’m a good cook, in fact I only started to cook few years back, in the year 1999 actually, when I gave my ‘ja’ word to the dutch gentleman on our wedding day *smile*. Now I enjoy spending time in my kitchen especially when there’s something new to try, new to experiment. here....
