Schnitzel with watercress and (spiced) apple sauce

Date February 12, 2008

Once I saw this recipe in Jamie Oliver’s “COOK” (book) I immediately asked my husband if he’d like to have it for dinner, since he is a schnitzel fan. I remember each time we’d travel to Austria, my husband would not stop talking about many different restaurants in Austria he’s been to or where he’s eaten their schnitzel specialties. I learned to eat schnitzel because of my husband.

Anyway to make a long story short, I did not follow Jamie’s recipe (page 182) because this meal was prepared in few minutes.

The dutch are known to make different flavored schnitzels and are sold in local groceries. So I just bought a few pieces and fried them in a pan with half-butter-half-oil, bought a jar of dutch apple mousse (they’re really delightful, pure apples) and fresh watercress.

I bet Jamie’s preparation was a lot tastier, but I am not complaining…this wasn’t bad…not at all.
