Raw…plain raw.

Date August 13, 2007

Plain ‘raw’ are the food images for this entry, and there are reasons behind it.

Even though today is my birthday (yes, shameless plugging) I celebrated it yesterday with a very few people, thinking that I could carry out my original plan to have a barbeque. Weather forecast was consulted days before and even many times yesterday but I guess you can never really trust a typical dutch weather.

Because the day turned out to be a little disastrous due to: it rained, my pug pooped on my leg, I had one of those ‘grrr’ moments with the father in law, and I bbq-ed in the MIDDLE of the rain. If you have the time, I’ve posted all about it HERE , you’ll also understand why my images are ‘raw’ ..I was beat after serving the food that I wasn’t in the mood to do some presentable plating let alone take photos. But I did took some photos the day I prepared the meat. Those are what you see now.

For the BBQ I’ve marinated spareribs, teriyaki chicken, thai meatballs, and pork belly (liempo as we call it in the Philippines.) To go with it, I also cooked pad thai, prepared thai cucumber salad and jasmine rice.

like I said, I was beat after all the work, all I could muster up was take a few pictures of my satisfied guests before the dinner has ended.

even my dessert of crêpes suzette with chocolate marble ice cream , fresh whipped cream, dash of amaretto/maple syrup was a bit pathetic looking.

It would have been a perfect barbeque if the weather had at least gifted me a dry day. Fortunately the company was perfect…so at the end, I was satisfied.

I still am beat as of this entry ….and I just hope the raw images aren’t that…. raw, for your taste.
