Poached Pears with Vanilla Ice Cream

Date October 16, 2006

I still have pears from our tree so I’ve decided to do an experiment. This dessert came out quite okay, husband liked it so I was satisfied.

For the pears: 5 pears for poaching, peeled-cut in half- center part removed, 4 cups of water, 1 cup sugar, 2 tbsp lime juice, 1 shot liquor ( I used peach) and seeds of a vanilla pod.

Place all in a saucepan, low to medium heat (depends on the toughness of your pears.) Cook pears until semi tender.

remove from the sauce (I really had no further use for the sauce), chill in the fridge.

for the chocolate sauce: 1 tbsp dutch chocolate powder, 2 tbsp sugar, 200ml water. slowly cook over low heat.

just place a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of a pear and gently add still warm chocolate sauce around.

Easy dessert. Eet Smakelijk!

Now I enjoy spending time in my kitchen especially when there’s something new to try, new to experiment. here....
