I know it’s been a while since my last post. I’ve seriously thought of closing this food blog. Not for the reason that I don’t like it anymore, in fact I love this blog. I like seeing on my screen ‘history’ of what I’ve prepared, what I’ve cooked, what I’ve taken photos of. I need not say that coming up with an entry is not easy. From planning on what to cook, buying the ingredients, to the actual cooking, photographing and gathering reaction from people who tasted the food…for me that’s a lot of work.
A lot of work just to be taken away from me by a blogger out there, posting my work on her blog as her own. Two friends of mine has told me of this particular blogger ( I wont name) who has stolen their work , passing it as her own (on her blog) and not bothering to give credit where credit is due. I felt so awful for my friends of course. And then something happened that made me felt I need to end this food blogging.
This blogger passed my work (ingredients, recipes and methods) as her’s. All she did was altered the entries (mine and others) a bit and voila! Everything becomes her own.
I may not be a good cook. This foodblog might be ‘nothing’ of importance to some people. But all my contents are my hard work, my time, my patience, pictures are taken by me…all mine. If I need to name the source of other recipes then I do just that, they deserve the credit.
So am I just after being credited? No. I DON’T LIKE THIEVES.
That was also the reason why I am still thinking of whether I will include the Recipes and Methods for every entry. Because I have decided to continue this blog, I truly like doing this. I just don’t like being robbed. I think nobody does, right?
Care to share your thoughts? Have you encountered such?

Hello Thess!
I always like to share but if someone is going to scrape your work, that’s a different story.
I think I told you this. When I started having websites, my photos were plain, without name and copyright. I’ve experienced people “borrowing” my photos, not recipes as I don’t have a food blog.
When I saw my photos in some sites especially social networks, I realized people are really “borrowing” them.
Since then, I see to it that my photos have my name on it and copyright, so if they’re getting them, at least people reading the blog or site know that it’s mine. I always would like people to at least inform me that they have my photos but it is not always the case. Well, it’s different again when they try to crop the photo which is always possible of course. That I can’t control. Also students are really “borrowing” my photos if they have projects. What am I going to with that? Well…
The first time I commented in a blog was because of this issue.
Before I forget, another way of putting the copyright… you can put it right in the middle of the picture. Not so nice but at least protected.
Regarding the recipe, that I really I don’t know. Well, you don’t have to put the recipe. You can just post the pictures and that’s it. It’s a food blog turned into a food photo blog with a little bit of description.
Anyway, have a nice week dear!

Sofie, Hi! Thanks for the comment.
Yes, I think I remember you telling me about your images being used somewhere else. I guess when it comes to images, the only way that we can prevent them from being ‘borrowed’(look how nice we are, we call it ‘borrowing’) is to watermark them ..as for placing it on the middle, I have done that in the past and incidentally, if you’ll visit my photoblog, I started doing it again this morning.
Hindi naman ako madamot eh, I really like sharing the recipes and methods, especially if they’re my own recipes because I’d like to know people’s reaction if they try the recipes…but for someone to pass my work as hers…*sigh*
Have a good weekend too Sofie, and regards to E!

“All she did was altered the entries (mine and others) a bit and voila! Everything becomes her own.”

ganun? badtrip yan… you got to give where credit is due… alhtough i dont mind the recipe, i always look for your pic of the food you prepared…:) i say you’re a good food photographer, probably because you know how to cook so you know where to emphasize on your photo…

Hello Thess! I’m sooo sorry to hear that someone has been taking credit for recipes and pictures you have posted. I know I learned a lot of recipes from you (some I still have to make), but I always make sure to give you credit (or others) where credit is due. You know I immediately checked my own blog to make sure that I gave you credit for that one recipe using “morning glory.” Whew! Nan doon ang pangalan mo. Anyhoo, I will surely miss your site if you do decide to end it but at the same time I’ll understand. Maybe that person(s) who has been taking your post & pictures have read this latest post and will put a stop to it. I do hope so . . . anyhoo, take care and hugs to Charlie! Have a good weekend!

STEL: already told you
LINO: Thanks for the kind words Lino, but it’s more of the recipes were taken.
TULIPFLEURS: Sana nga she stops, since hindi lang ako kinukunan nya.
LIZETH: yes, I believe in karma sweety

anyway, siguro nga gawin mo na lang photo-foodblog thess, tutal magaling ka naman mag-picture so parang maco-combine mo yung two talents mo. tapos ilagay mo na lang na “if you want the recipe for this dish, just email me and i’ll send it to you”. ganun na lang.

This is awful Thess! It’s horrible when people do that…
Glad to see though that there are a couple of posts after this one so i hope that means you are still blogging! Hang in there!

MEEYA: that’s just the thing..this person strikes me as quite intelligent because she’s able to convince people that everything is her work. Anyway there’s no use fretting about this, I’ll go on.
In a way this really was a food/photo/recipe blog …I’ve started that ‘recipe by request’ many weeks ago…kaso I thought I am not that good naman as a cook para maging madamot to share because I like to share as I also love the ideas other bloggers give me, give & take lang…or maybe I just need to get use to the idea of not posting the recipe unless someone requests for it..di ba?

JOEY, hi!
Thanks for this message Joey, I really appreciate that.

Oh sorry to hear this, Thessiree, tagal ko rin kasing nawala sa blogging kaya ngayon lang ako nakabalita. Well, totoo iyang sinabi mo, dami thieves, hehehe. I agree with Meeya, siguro ganoon na lang gawin mo, don’t post the recipe and if someone wants it then iemail ka na lang para ibigay mo. Ang downside nga lang minsan, kapag maraming nag-ask, dagdag trabaho. Di bale kung sabay-sabay mag-ask di ba para send to many na agad.
But if you decide to end this blog, I will support you pa rin kaya lang sayang naman din at dami talaga kami natututuhan dito.

Sorry to hear about this, Thess. I have seen other blogs steal photos from other sites too. Caught one stealing from another pinay’s foodblog.
Did you try commenting on the post or emailing that person and asking for them to remove your content?
Me, I don’t mind if people ‘borrow’ my photos or recipe, all I ask is that they give credit and link back to the original content. It’s not hard to do.

Hi LANI!! welcome back
I hope it’s for good?
LANI: Hi !! Nice to see you again!! Yeah, that’s the downside of it…and I also don’t want people to ask me simply because I am not an expert and what I am posting here are really to be shared. So I’ve decided to continue doing what I have been doing. I do believe in Karma naman.
JMOM: Hi J!! long time no see na tayo ha? (^0^)
No I did not say a word…this person’s got a HUGE EGO and I don’t think will even admit her wrong doings. Funny thing is, she thinks that ALL people buy her acts…me and my friends don’t. Shame on her.
I agree with you, why not just admit that you have borrowed the idea from others and give them the credit? Because you’re right, that isn’t hard to do. But for this person, it is.
Hay naku let me stop here…not worth wasting my time.
Thanks for the visit J, will visit you soon!
