Note: I have posted this recipe in the past. This post has more to do with new photo of the meal that I’ve taken. I have been experimenting with food photography so you will see more meals from the archive.
Me: Wat wil je vanavond eten? (what do you want to eat tonight?)
Husband: Knoflook rijst (Garlic Rice)
Me: met wat daarbij? (with what?)
Husband: zoete vlees (sweet marinated pork or Tocino)
Me: komt voor elkaar (it’ll be done)

Short is how our conversation normally goes when he knows what he wants for dinner. And I don’t mind preparing it over and over as long as my husband likes it and requests for it. We call this sweet pork ‘Tocino’ in the Philippines (recipe here, sans cheese) and it is usually eaten with garlic rice. Normally, rice is made with garlic and salt only. The rice that you see on the photo is with green peas, ham, onion, Chinese rice wine, butter, garlic- loads of it, light soy sauce, and pepper.
I wanted to eat it not the normal way, meaning rice and pork pieces on a plate but instead, I placed rice on a bowl, then tocino and topped it with fried Thai garlic.
Had my meal by using chopsticks. Not a bad idea afterall!

Holidays are just around the corner and the time to give out gifts is at hand! Okay I am being overacting there but to be honest, Corporate Gift Baskets that we get from some of our business contacts are what I am looking forward to every year! Some of them give out really cool gift baskets. My most favorite is our insurance guy who takes time to choose gifts that he gives away, gifts that he makes sure his clients would appreciate and enjoy. Now that’s thoughtful, isn’t it? How I wish he’d think of such collection, as in the photo, for this year’s basket. I could use some red wine among other goodies.
Since we’re talking about gift baskets, have you thought of what you’ll be giving away to your clients and friends this Christmas? Why not check out the winecountrygiftbaskets.com where you can find baskets full of goods. But they do not only offer give away baskets for Christmas but also you can order Halloween gifts, which is quite timely. Or if you ‘re looking for birthday gifts then they also have just the collection for you. Thank You gifts, theme gift baskets, get well gift baskets, gourmet baskets, or chocolate filled ones are just some of what they offer too. Interested yet? Simply check out the link and it will take you directly to the website. You can also avail of the electronic printed catalog (ride side of the website.) Enjoy picking out your gift basket!

I saw this tiny kitten in an alley in Bangkok one day. My husband and I were on our way to the next Hotel to get our dinner. But I knew that had to stop and see if this tiny kitten was still alive.
I already felt like crying when the kitty would not answer my calls. It was tiny and like a porcelain doll, breakable. Probably after more than ten times of calling ‘Kitty kitty’ it slowly opens its eyes and looks at me. You wouldn’t believe how happy I felt that I begun stroking this little precious. But it gave me more than just a look. It slowly stood up and walked towards me!
It was then that I knew and said to the kitty: You’ll be fine kitty, you’ll be fine.
Bless the heart of that someone who gave this kitty this food (sardines) …I found the food on the kitty’s side.
