Due to the long winter we experienced, oh wait, still experiencing! in the Netherlands, soup was 'needed' in this household of mine..especially by this writer, an Asian who is used to the warmth of the sun that tummy always longs for something well, warm. :P This is one soup that became a favo

I was able to find Asian aubergines (that's how we call eggplants in Netherlands) from our local supermarket, 3 pieces. I like local aubergines only they're too big and (a bit) less tasty for this recipe. Asian aubergines are finer, smaller in size and packed with taste! Perfect size for this Rellen

Unlike my husband, I like spaghetti carbonara. The best carbonara that I've ever tasted was Sofitel Hotel's (now called Centara Hotel) in Hua-Hin, Thailand. I worked there for more than 2 years in the past that's why I can say I was an expert of their carbonara :)
Anyway, I only attempted to co

Christmas Eve dinner was easy last year. Easy or I should say easier because I only prepared a 3-meal course rather than the usual 5. This is what we had for the 2nd course (main).
I was lucky enough to have found a 4-piece pack of beautiful Argentine beef for this Gordon Ramsey recipe. Got i

A simple side dish I prepared on Christmas eve dinner. It's just a dinner for two that's why I opted for a 3-course meal. Along with this potato we had steak (will soon be posted) that went well with this simple preparation.
I boiled young potato with skin intact until half cooked, set them a

It's January 1st and I thought I should start the year right by updating my foodblog. It's not a joke maintaining 6 blogs (each serving a purpose) but I must not complain because all 6 are my babies.

I had to think of my maternal grandmother whenever I see mussels. I guess because when I was young, I found mussels or tahong as how we call it in Tagalog, a bit 'scary' because of its almost black shells. Scary and yet I always found my grandma's simple mussels soup (Tinolang Tahong, key soup ingre

I was at the local market many weeks ago to buy my supply. When I reached the seafood section, I saw a small commotion where 3 children and their father was involved. The youngest of the 3, perhaps she was about 5 years old was crying while the slightly older brothers were teasing her for crying. She was pretty scared. Daddy's trying to calm her down.
Well no wonder she was crying. Because in front of her were live crabs which she probably thought were aliens from another planet! Even adult p

I love noodles! Warm, cold, in soup - give it to me I'll have it anytime!
This noodle recipe became a favorite of my little family. I think this was because of the dressing, which I adapted from Bill Granger's 'Relax' recipe book. It was different from fried egg noodles I was used to or the Pinoy mami soup type. This can be eaten warm or cold (as salad) and pretty simple to make. A nice noodle recipe for a change, thanks Bill Granger!
Ingredients good for two persons:
250g egg nood

Tonight, for the 3rd time (in a span of 2 months), my husband and I will be visiting this restaurant again! Why? because we became fans of this restaurant found in our city and about 20 minutes walk from our house. Yes, 20 minutes! It took us almost 10 years just to find a restaurant in our city that caters to our demand: good food. And finally we found it!
Last month my husband was browsing the internet for a restaurant. And he landed on this restaurant's website, and I'm glad he did! It's the

How time really flies! Though it is still springtime on this part of the world, I'm sure many people like myself are already dreaming of that warm summer weather! Summer is fast approaching and it means only one thing. It's beach season! And also the season to don those eye catching bathing suits we ladies are all hoping to wear once again. Be on the beach, pools, lake or even river, it really doesn't matter does it? Ladies need to wear the right swimsuits!
There is a truth to the words that c

We've been having good sunny weather in Holland , or at least on our part of the land, that my husband and I simply grab every opportunity we get to bike around. We live in this little ísland' surrounded by water and it's just wonderful to go around it by bike, I of course am always carrying a camera because you'll never know what you come across with, right?
Such as when we came across this old water toren (reservoir) turned hotel with restaurant and a marvelous garden. The place is called Vi
