My favorite ‘Dutch Patat’ …and why the silence

Date March 13, 2008

I know it has been silent around here for the past weeks. It’s because we’ve lost a family member and I was not really in the mood to blog. I apologize for not responding to your comments and recipe requests. It was only yesterday that we had the funeral and now I just felt that I could blog a bit. I did missed it.
But before I post the requested fish recipe, I’d like to …well I guess just want to post this image of my favorite Dutch Patat which I found in my Flickr archive. I took this photo probably almost 4 years ago. This image also brings back memory of a departed friend who would always tease me that I should eat more of this so that I’ll be like those rich chested Dutch women. I just could not t forget his wicked sense of humor, really. And so we’d laughingly argued that Patat isn’t the answer but women get breast augmentation which is implants to enrich their chests. But i would never win because he’d always say that it’s only Patat that the women in his family eat that’s why they got those rich chests.

Well anyway, I don’t eat patat to turn my gals into big cups, but simply I love eating this. I have tasted fries from different countries but I must admit that Dutch fries are really tasty. And quite intriguing are their sauces.
I order mine with mayonnaise and ‘ kurrie‘ (not curry) this is tomato based sauce rich with herbs and then topped with freshly chopped onions.

Dutch Frenchy

How do you eat your patat?

I am an Asian married to a dutch gentleman, residing in Holland. There is no way that I’m a good cook, in fact I only started to cook few years back, in the year 1999 actually, when I gave my ‘ja’ word to the dutch gentleman on our wedding day *smile*. Now I enjoy spending time in my kitchen especially when there’s something new to try, new to experiment. here....
