delicious evening… with friends

Date January 14, 2008

Back in August of last year, we commissioned Simon, a professional house (re) builder, a one-man-machine (literally!) to renovate rooms in out home. That included the entire kitchen, living room, toilet, my husband’s office and the garage. He was such the best in the business as he single handedly demolished our fireplace, old kitchen, and all that needed to be rebuild. I think he has worked on about 60% of our home. This spring he’ll do our main bathroom so we;ll see him again.

Anyway, Simon is such a nice guy and he became a friend. During his stay (working days) with us, I would always made him and my husband lunch, I liked cooking for those two. But little did we know that he wasn’t only a human machine but the guy can also cook! And not just cook, his preparations are far more better than some of the restaurants I have visited. Really my hat’s off to Simon…I miss your cooking, man! Hurry back from Thailand and cook for us again, ha ha ha!

I thought I’d post what he’d (together with his wife Marjan) one night when we got invited for dinner at their home. verdict: WOW! Everything was delicious and…just wow!

I am an Asian married to a dutch gentleman, residing in Holland. There is no way that I’m a good cook, in fact I only started to cook few years back, in the year 1999 actually, when I gave my ‘ja’ word to the dutch gentleman on our wedding day *smile*. Now I enjoy spending time in my kitchen especially when there’s something new to try, new to experiment. here....
