Chinese Dining

Date October 3, 2007

Back in the 90’s, it was known as Melia Hotel but nowadays, it is called Hilton Resort and Spa , which happens to be the next favorite hotel of ours (husband and I) not only because of their big wonderful suits but of its chinese restaurant, The White Lotus which is situated on the 17th floor with an attractive panaromic view of Hua Hin (and Gulf of Thailand) be during the day or night. I particularly like it in the evening when the locals are catching squids that their tiny boats are luminated green (attractive for squids) and bigger boats also lighted, fishing for bigger catch , all of them are just fantastic to see from the restaurant floor

last Saturday (29th sept.) we had a fantastic dinner that started out with beautifully marinated duck (skins) on pancakes smeared with their special hoisin sauce

the duck meat was served later on cooked in

black pepper sauce..yummy!

and with curry sauce…while eating, my husband and I were talking about how soft the duck meat was that it’s almost melting in our mouth!! I couldn’t resist to ask the waitress but she firmly confirmed that it was indeed duck (I could even take a look in the kitchen she said…which I did not do of course..but I just might do it if not tonight then the coming night because we’ll dine there again) …prepared by their chef who is half thai-half chinese trained in HongKong

the rice in lotus leaf is to die for….simply wonderful!

we also ordered the rock lobster…and I could only roll my eyes from it splendid taste!

after all these we still had desserts which I might post next, my laptop battery is almost up!

If ever you’ll visit this part of Thailand…don’t forget to go to this restaurant….9 stars! (10 perfect score!)

I am an Asian married to a dutch gentleman, residing in Holland. There is no way that I’m a good cook, in fact I only started to cook few years back, in the year 1999 actually, when I gave my ‘ja’ word to the dutch gentleman on our wedding day *smile*. Now I enjoy spending time in my kitchen especially when there’s something new to try, new to experiment. here....
