Crab curry.

I was at the local market many weeks ago to buy my supply. When I reached the seafood section, I saw a small commotion where 3 children and their father was involved. The youngest of the 3, perhaps she was about 5 years old was crying while the slightly older brothers were teasing her for crying. She was pretty scared. Daddy's trying to calm her down. Well no wonder she was crying. Because in front of her were live crabs which she probably thought were aliens from another planet! Even adult p

Squash in coconut creme

The moment I saw this slice of squash at a local Asian store last week, an idea, a simple idea of cooking it quickly came to mind, so full of excitement I bought it. Yeah, excited because it isn't every day that you can find such beautiful squash in the smack of winter here in Holland! I also bought a thin bundle of string beans (sitao in tagalog) and a piece of aubergine (talong in tagalog) to complete the main ingredients of my simple recipe. And this (see under image) was the outcome. Tiny

Teriyaki Duck

Here's another simple recipe that I prepared last Christmas dinner. My father in law not feeling too well, husband and I weren't really in a festive mood so there was really no plan of making Christmas dinner. But since there are only 3 people in this small family of ours, I whipped up something simple at the last moment. We didn;t like to eat pork nor beef that evening so husband and I voted for duck (which I have 2 breasts sitting in the freezer.) Simple and yet tasty. I was lucky since the

Chicken Curry with Couscous

' I have chicken fillet and couscous..hmmmm, what can I make for dinner just using these?' That was me having a quiet conversation with myself one night, when it was almost dinner time and I'm still to cook our food. I was actually looking at my Moroccan recipe book and found one that was with chicken but I changed my mind because it was requiring me to shop for the rest of the ingredients, but I was lazy tired from work so I didn't want to go out to do that. So I had to come up with somethin

Noodles in springrolls

From my stock photos, I found these two photos. Lumpia (fried springrolls) which in the beginning I found a bit strange when I first had the chance of eating this kind, few years back. Because the filling was with noodles. I was used to springroll preparation with fish, chicken orĀ  pork - all mixed with vegetables, sauteed. But never with noodles. Until I saw them being served in local Chinese and Indonesian restaurants here. I realized that noodles (I prefer using glass noodles) is a good fil
