When I first read Kirk's entry, I got curious of the Hawaiian Loco Moco plate he ordered. I thought the name Loco Moco sounded funny. I like funny sounding food :=) I've never had that before so I decided to google a recipe and I found this. I never knew it was that simple, so off I went to the grocery to buy me a kilo of lean ground beef and this was my own version of it. For people like my husband and I, who are dieting (and have never succeeded!) here's

This was the very first dutch dish, Stamppot* that I've tasted many years back that has left me a lasting impression. Honestly, I found it a bit revolting then since it was served on my plate like a scooped púke topped with a piece of beef and its jus** alongside it, which was pure fat. But initial impression has quickly changed when I tasted it. It was actually good.
Though Stamppot is eaten more during the winter, many dutch family prepare them the whole year round. But there are also dutch

Christmas 2005 dinner was quiet, well...not that it was not the past 5 years, but since there are only 3 of us in this small family (husband, dad-in-law and me) it's always been a challenge to come up with an idea to at least 'spice up' the christmas dinner table
so I thought of inviting a celebrity to join us
'it's 2006 & thess hasn't changed a bit, she's still crazy' - hubby's unspoken words
Anyway, my husband has requested a rather simple dinner this year that will not require me to

It is rather unfortunate for most of us living in Holland that this year, our summer is wet, cloudy and at times even cold. And when it's cold, that calls for soup.
I've always liked my mother's soup with porkballs and flour noodles (very thin and quick to cook.) Back home , we call it "Misua (flour noodles) Bola-bola" (balls) and we're always delighted to have this on the table, siblings and I would fish for the balls and refused to eat the other main ingredient which is a vegie called Patola o

This month of August marks the launching of Lasang Pinoy - an event to make the writers and readers know more about pinoy (Filipino) food...a brainstorm of Karen and Stef. An event where not just food bloggers are welcome to participate but as well as the nonfood, even non bloggers too. And for the initial theme, they have chosen to honor Benigno 'Ninoy' Aquino.
Click this link to know more about the man.
As for me, at that time, I didn't knew who the man was. I never knew his political stance
