beef curry balls
March 23, 2006
My husband loves peanut sauce but would not touch kare-kare because of the accompanying bagoong. While I am not really fond of peanut sauce but of coconut milk. And in this dish we both got what we wanted. Lovely taste and added to our list of favorites.
Beef Curry Balls

Ingredients:
500g minced beef
flour for dusting
4tbsp vegetable oil
2-3 tbsp red curry paste (I’ve used commercial)
1 1/2 cups of coconut milk (I’ve used canned)
1 tbsp fish sauce
2 tbsp ground roasted peanuts (crunchy peanut butter is another alternative)
1tbsp sugar
coriander for garnishing
Make small round balls out of the minced beef , about an inch in diameter, roll in flour then excess flour should be dusted off and then fry them in oil until they turn brown. Set aside. In the same wok, just remove most of the oil until left with about a tbsp of it, stir fry the red curry paste for a minute or two over low heat so it wont stick, stir in coconut milk and continue frying for few minutes. Add fish sauce, peanuts and sugar. Taste the sauce if you need to adjust the ingredients. Return beef balls to sauce and let it simmer for maybe 4-5 minutes.
Perfect with jasmin rice.

Oh, I like the idea of curry flavored meat balls! I think I’ll be trying this soon too

Maybe after I do something with the wrappers I have in the pantry. I haven’t had a chance to use them yet.

DEXIE: i think i understand that…it took some convincing for my husband to try cheese (sa lahat ng dutch, sya ayaw ng keso)
XTINE: hello dear
go to any thai store and you’ll find the paste, I’m sure. Curry powder isn’t the same as red curry. anyway, I will make an entry for a home made red curry paste for you. Take care too!
JMOM: I hope you like it! I hope you find that inspiration to be able to touch those rice wrappers

Maybe I can find red curry paste being sold here in Pinas, popular na kasi ang Thai cuisine dito kaya maaaring meron na. I will definitely try this one Thess basta nakahanap.
Looks so yummy, kakagutom talaga.
