a night to remember

Date February 27, 2006

For 3 years now, our friends K & C ‘babysit’ for our ferrets whenever my little family is on vacation. Taking care of our two male ferrets (used to be 3, the female died) isn’t really easy because you have to make sure they have fresh food & water everyday, their house needs to be cleaned (scrubbed) as well…especially it’s inside our house and one of the ferrets,Gizmo, emits odor (oh, you don’t want to smell that!) whenever he’s startled, excited or pissed! To make it more difficult for the babysitters, Jacob, the other male was in a foul mood a day before our vacation, that he started biting anyone who would touch him.

To make it short, we’ve decided to share with our friends a post valentine dinner, also to thank them for a splendid job of taking care of the boys.

We went to “Warisan” ( please click for restaurant info) a thai restaurant by the harbor in Rotterdam. My first time to this restaurant though we frequent their other restaurant “Dewi Sri” ( please click for info) on the top floor. Not only that the ambience was perfect for us two sets of old puppies (so we felt that night since the crowd was more of the ‘yuppy’ type) but the scent of food which greeted us when we walked in the restaurant was heaven!
We each ordered starters, main and dessert that night…and everything was deliciously perfect! Only I wasn’t able to take pictures of all that was ordered, too excited to taste them.

My starter was this Yam Neua (spicy grilled steak salad) oozing with chilis , beef was tender, ‘melts in the mouth’ my husband commented.Yam Neua.JPG
K ordered Tom Kha kai (chicken soup on coconut milk) ..he gave this an absolute thumbs up.

Husband ordered Satay Kai (fried shrimp patties with sweet and sour chili sauce) I was a bit curious how it would taste since it looked a bit different from the patties I had in Thailand, this was breaded…and it was a good idea!

C had Kai Tagrai (grilled lemongrass stalks covered with minced chicken and basil ) she liked it a lot!

some of the main course which I managed to shoot

Kai Phat Prik Sod (stirfried chicken breast in spicy curry with green onions, basil &baby corn) pretty good taste

I again had beef as main course, I gave this too a 5 star (highest point for that evening) Neua Phat Kra pauw (stir fried steak with green beans and holy basil) and just behind it, you could see it a bit, was C’s order Neua Phat nam man hoi (steak with green onions, shiitake and sesame seeds) I liked it a lot for it’s sweetness that gave balance to the rest of the meals that were flaming hot.

I would really recommend this restaurant if you love thai food.

    Tita Thess,

    Hi! How are you?

Now you tell me that’s the real fancy dinner for “Valentine’s Date” I’m not whoever spoil you or your husband – lol! But one thing for sure you both deserve to be treated like a King and Queen – one more thing I’m interested with the Yam Neua dish – it seem like we can make our own version to it – can you? Don’t forget to share… Thanks and take care!
