+30C = laziness

Date July 18, 2006

Sleep hasn’t knocked yet so I thought of blogging. ‘guess my june 28th entry wasn’t my last, whopeedoodah! :D

High temperature, just like what we’re experiencing lately, calls for cold or icy treats. I thought of making these no fuss treats one night without using an ice cream machine. All I needed was a good thick fork for mixing.

ez mango sorbet and vanilla tutti fruti

As you can see, my mango slices (next to kiwi) weren’t exactly what you can call sweet and juicy. theye were rather hard, a bit sour and far from being juicy. “from Spain” said the market vendor. since I really wanted a mango sorbet but finding at least a juicy mango is next to impossible, I’ve decided to use what was available and the result wasn’t bad at all that I’d do it again in the near future. In a mixer I threw in mango meat, a bit of double cream, vanilla seeds, sugar and full cream milk then blended everything well. I then placed the mixture in a flat dish to cool in the freezer. When it became a bit hard, ‘took it out of the freezer to give it a quick whip, placed it back until it was time to have a treat.

While the vanilla scoop was a mixture of vanilla seeds, double cream, sugar, chopped nuts and chopped glazed fruits. same procedure was applied.

We still haven’t done any major renovation in the house but will start on august 1st. My appliances and all other stuff needed will be delivered next week so emptying the ground floor has been my task lately, just boxing and bagging all that’s needed to be kept away duing the major work. For now that’s all I can share. Until here, hoping I could update before the first of August.
btw, I’m combating spams folks, if you wish to leave me a message, please do not forget to type the security code: “LEKKER” before clicking “SEND.”

“a bit hard” is equivalent to how long in the freezer? I wanna learn how to make this, too! Baka pwede nang ala fruit salad/halo halo ice cream (two of my fave flavors sa Pinas).

Me photos ba sa renovation? Pasilip ha! Baka makapulot ng ideas.

Hi Manang, naku I didn’t timed it (i didn’t even know the freezer’s temp..alam mo naman ever since na tamad ako sa details :D) but you just have to fork it and if see if you can scoop up a piece..tipo ba’ng gooey pa rin ang center pero medyo hardened na ang periphery, then chuck up everything together, freeze again and before serving, make sure it isn’t rock hard (because it’ll be if you will not check it from time to time)
Hindi pa kami nag start sa major renovation eh, baka ikaw may pictures ng constructions mo para ako makakuha ng ideas!! :)

    Thess,

Dami na naipon pics pero hirap humanap ng time to post about them, between the kids on vacation, the kitchen works, and my NCLEX review. Time-consuming din kasi ang blogging!

Hehe, I was hoping I could get ideas from you kasi u r so artistic noh! Alam mo naman akits, no such talents! Si Iska kaya, masundot nang makalilbre sa architectural design ideas?
