I know it’s been quite a while since I last updated my beloved foodblog. 3 deaths in the family in a span of 11 months wasn’t easy. Lives have changed. Priorities had to be changed. Cooking became less. Yes, really less.
Anyhoo…I am in Asia right now to be with my family for my father’s first year death anniversary. I can’t believe it’s been a year since that day. But okay, I am not here to talk about anything but food (you do understand, right Pa? )
Just across the street where my mother and sisters live is a shopping mall where a few fastfood restaurants are located. One of them is the ‘Mang Inasal‘ joint, grilled chicken is the most popular in their quick menu. I have seen it in the year 2008 and 2010 but it was only now that I tried their offers and I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised.
First thing that surprised me was the price. Food is affordable. Second is taste. Although I can honestly say that the chicken offered is far from being of top quality, the taste (marinade) balanced it for me. So in all it’s a decent meal for an affordable price. One should never whine.
At Php 99.00 you get 1 chicken leg (such as you see on the image), unlimited rice – yes, unlimited! so if you’re a hungry student on a tight budget you’ll be guaranteed all filled up and satisfied by the time you leave this fastfood, 1 calamansi (local lime) and sometimes with a piece of long bird chili. All mentioned is less than Euro 2,00- a price of just a scoop of ice cream in Holland!
I love their grilled chicken and I also love that the rice is wrapped in banana leaf. So no wonder I’ve been to the place 3 times in 12 days.
Eating using your bare hands is also encouraged. That is indeed the best way to enjoy your barbeque, right?
Mang Inasal’s grilled chicken, 5 as the highest score – I give you 3.5 score . May you not increase your price nor decrease the size of your chicken for the coming years.
