FINE Dining and some for Lasang Pinoy, Sunday
La.Pi.S
One would picture a stylish clad dinner atmosphere upon hearing ‘fine dining’. But as Ces puts it: It is subjective as they say, depending on personal taste and can be guided by the quality of food, service and atmosphere. Fine dining for us (husband and I) means only one thing: food. We would sit down and eat even at the market as long as the food served meet our demanding palates.
However you will not find us eating at the market in this post but rather a fine dining we experienced a couple of years ago.
Year was 2007, summer. Place: Bangkok, Thailand. Hotel: Baiyoke Sky Hotel, also known as the tallest hotel in Thailand. Restaurant: Crystal Grill , 82nd floor.
lobby ground floor…
Who wouldn’t want to dine on the 82nd floor? *wink* Actually in 2007 was my first time to dine there and among 3 of their restaurants, we chose the Crystal Grill. Not just Thai food but also international spread is what they offer there. (I’ve added a link if you want to check it out.) Before entering any of the restaurants, you need to purchase your ticket first. Inclusive is a free admission to the Observation Deck on 77th floor and the Revolving View Point on 84th floor-view from this you’ll see after few photos
just showing you two of the *bleep bleep* plates that I had
the view outside while we’re eating? The whole restaurant is surrounded by full height of 5-meters windowpanes and this was what I looked at the entire time we’re eating.
then came a Filipino harana band. Surprisingly the long haired lady and her husband (on her right) knew me through an old colleague. We saw them again last year when we came back to try their other restaurant.
you can eat all you want since it was a buffet. After eating you get the chance to see Bangkok skyline, just 2 floors up.
the floor was pretty shaky so you really need some steady hands to take good clear pictures. Deck observers with us that night.
I must have taken 2 dozens but only 1 zoom shot came out ‘acceptable’
that fine evening and fine dining ended with our tummy full and we took wonderful memories with us.
Before I end, this shot made that evening truly unforgettable too. This was a blurry shot but I think you should see this one. Look closely at the sky…tell me what you see okay? This shot was only resized, no other editing was done.
Happy LAPIS everyone!

nice. the food looks really good. the restauran’ts concept is similar to eiffel tower in paris which also has an observation deck at the tip of the tower.

i love love thailand. but i’ve already told you that so many time. we haven’t been to the baiyoke sky hotel…but we had a good view of it from the room of our hotel…the name of which i can’t recall at this time. haha.
anyway, the food looks gorgeous! dining at the 82nd floor truly sounds like one heck of a fine dining experience.
The view is stunning, I must admit I get a bit scared when I go into tall buildings, that said with food like that I’m sure it would take my mind off things.
WOW, that’s one fine dining indeed.

Hi Tess,
Last Saturday i made your “vis koekje” i think this is from the last year entry and i printed it out . That is one of our favorite .The taste is really good specially with ginataang mongo and dipping the vis koekje in the chille saus really yummy. Actually i have this recipe already but yours is really good and easy as well . My husband is also a dutch and i am lucky because he really love asian food. I hope your not tired posting yummy recipe , keep up the good work
Hi Rowena! Thank you very much for your feedback, wow! I am glad your Dutch husband likes the recipe. Oh no, I am not tired of posting recipes, only I’m pressed for time lately but I will try my best to post as much as I can.
Hartelijk bedankt en groetjes!

Definitely an experience every Bangkok visitor should try. It’s a little pricey, but how many times do you have this opportunity?
Nice post/pictures.
