Christmas in here!

Few hours from now and the most awaited Holiday of the year is finally happening. I hope you are all done with your Christmas shopping. That you're all done with your Christmas dinner preparation. To be honest I'm not really feeling Christmasy this year. We're quite worried about my dad in law's health status that unfortunately, celebrating the holidays isn't on top of the list. But I'll still be trying to whip us up a simple dinner on the 25th. Both my husband and I are hoping that my father

Kitchen Gadgets (LaPiS)

My entry for Lapis this week is quite late, Holidays you know...terribly busy, yours truly is. But better late than never right? So here's my contribution for this week's theme 'kitchen gadgets'. I took a few quick shots of my metal spatulas that I use for my fry top. My Boretti comes with 4 (gas) burners and in the middle is a fry top which I chose over a grill top when I bought the stove. I figured I can just buy a separate grill pan since I fell in love with the fry top's quality.  Whene

Kitchen Design ideas!

I couldn't believe that it was already two summers ago when we had our kitchen renovated by a lone contractor. Imagine a single person breaking down a whole kitchen then rebuilding it again on his own? That's how it was, resulting to a week just to get the job done. But no, no complain from us there! Because our kitchen came out just the way I hoped it would! I designed the kitchen myself. I was the one who chose everything that is in my kitchen now. From cabinets to oven, rotating pots and pa

I'm now a believer of those boxes

As much as possible I prepare our meals from scratch. Because that's what I grew up with. Fresh ingredients = better tasting food. But in these fast paced - busy life, I learned to turn into those mixes in boxes offered in groceries. And to be honest the first time I used it, I became a believer and though not regularly, I sure use them especially when I don't have the time to do some shopping. I had few pieces of frozen Alaskan salmon, 300grams of fresh beans. So this Sunday evening, I prepa

Christmas recipes!

I have but about two weeks before to come up with recipes for two dinners. First Christmas dinner which is on the 25th itself, and another set of recipes for Boxing day or 2nd Christmas day, on the 26th. The past years I have always consulted my cookbooks for this but this year I want some recipes I 've never read or seen before. I am planning on doing 4 courses on the first dinner and 3 courses on the second night. In my experience it wasn't really difficult finding them, but combining courses

Ice cream on White Chocolate sauce

While trying to find an entry for this weekend's La.Pi.S, I came across this old recipe of mine, a dessert I prepared on Christmas 2006. Ice cream was bought from a grocery nearby, while I only baked the chocolate 'pasta' and made the sauce which was the highlight of this dessert! It was my first time to make it (well, most of my Christmas dinner) and I must say that my dinner companions really liked this sauce. * Chocolate sticks: just mix flour, cocoa powder, egg and sugar, refrigerate the

Good night rest is important.

Who would have believed that me, 'Superwoman' or at least I thought I was many years ago, would feel tired and not well when I begin my day? That happens a lot when did not get a good night sleep. Ah the result of aging, I suppose. Our body changes with time. If before I could sleep no matter where I was, or whatever I was sleeping on and wake up rejuvenated...I must admit that this doesn't happen now. With my back and neck pain that kill me especially in this cold winter weather, I sometimes wi
